CIBT To Provide E-Commerce Training

September 6, 2001

Capital Alliance Group’s subsidiary, CIBT Canadian Institute of Business and Technology Corporation, has entered into an agreement to provide education services to the Chinese government’s Ministry of Foreign Trade. CIBT has been contracted to provide e-commerce training to the division of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, which is responsible for establishing on-line trading policies as well as co-operation with foreign government organizations. The agreement also calls for project management, English and computer training services to be provided at a later date.

Charles Chen, president, CIBT, China, states, “We are very excited about the significance of this relationship with the government as it is the first time that this ministry has hired a non-Chinese university to provide employee training.”

CIBT also recently launched its innovative “2 + 2” transferable degree program. This program is specifically designed to provide students who travel to foreign countries with the opportunity to continue their education abroad. After completing the initial two years of the program in Beijing, students can now apply to complete the final two years of their studies at one of a number of affiliated campuses around the world. These campuses require: Royal Roads University in Victoria, Canada; La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia; Assumption University in Bangkok, Thailand; the University of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, United Kingdom; or the Schiller International University in Leysin, Switzerland. Additional international affiliate schools will be announced in the near future.

Following a government-sponsored inspection by Academic Committee of the State of China, it has been recognized as one of the top 10 foreign-owned MBA providers in the country.

“With impending entry of China in the World Trade Organization, along with the awarding of the 2008 Summer Olympics to Beijing, CIBT is repositioning itself to take full advantage of the significant and emerging business training opportunities in the service industry as well as the tourism, transportation, logistics and information technology sectors. Our recent efforts to significantly enhance and expand our business English program will assist us in meeting the demands of this rapidly growing market. We are confident that our reputation and range of course offerings provide us with a solid foundation for future growth,” said Toby Chu, Capital Alliance Group’s president and chief executive officer.
